I've been at Everfree NW all weekend and I had a pretty good time. Probably explains why my dA has been mostly quiet for the last couple of weeks OTL (Last week I had art block, thankfully I was able to mostly get past it at EFNW after doing a few really basic sketch dumps - I'm so horrible with traditional art give me digital anyday of the week
sta.sh/2oorxqcddon).
Anyway I made a few new friends, and I got hangout with a bunch of people I know on IRC such as
,
, and
. I also got to meet others I know on IRC such as
and
and get prints from them.
Also, as any con attendee does I got the entire female cast to sign one of the prints I purchased. I didn't have time to get the male cast to sign it however I needed to at least use some of my vacation time to visit downtown and all of interesting sights. Perhaps at another con I can get their signatures, and hopefully have them sign one of my own prints. I am a hobbyist artist after all.
Anyway, the highlight of saturday? Hanging out with EQD pre-readers, and
watching Gravity Falls. I didn't say much to him however. I watched him sketch so many pieces at the dealers hall, and I bet the last thing he would want to talk about is art or pony since it's probably draining.
Anyway fun times. Hopefully the next EFNW will be at a much larger venue like an actual convention center close to or in downtown. Although I can't complain about the exercise I got having to hoof it to the Marriott (much needed exercise woo!). The only things that were a nightmare was registration (honestly three lines and two hour wait? It would have been much easier if badges were either sent in the mail weeks in advance or allow for pre-registration on thrusday), and events at the Holiday Inn upstairs (it was either impossible to get into the event or they made it impossible to get to your hotel room).
Anyway, I might try to make it down to EQLA in November if I am still in Nevada. Otherwise, I'll probably wait for the next one in Seattle or New York.
